From the 27th of March to the 6th of April 2015, The Festtage Festival will take place in the Schiller Theatre in Berlin. International opera stars and the state orchestra "Staatskapelle Berlin" will come together and turn the Schiller Theatre into a special venue with just the right atmosphere to enjoy breathtaking classical music. The Festival has become an acclaimed success with the German as well as the international audience, and Berlin is sure to see many international visitors.

Berlin is renowned for its exceptional variety of attractions, its flourishing cultural scene and a way of life that's both fast-paced and relaxed. Culturally minded visitors from all corners of the globe come to Berlin to see performances by leading orchestras – such as the internationally celebrated Berlin Philharmonic – and to attend ballets and operas at the three major opera houses.

For the third time, after 2005 and 2010, the concert programme has the motto »Hommage à Pierre Boulez«. On 26 March 2015 the great French composer and conductor will celebrate a big birthday – his 90th. In the past decades he has been a major factor of stimulus and inspiration in music. For us this is a welcome opportunity to give him and his works centre stage. A number of concerts will depict the many facets of his work. As many as three orchestras will honor him this year – Vienna Philharmonic, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and Staatskapelle Berlin – all conducted by Daniel Barenboim at the Philharmonie.

Traditionally, the past opera festivals have focused on Richard Wagner, the German composer, theatre director, polemicist and conductor primarily known for his operas. This year will be no different, as Wagner operas will be performed, with a revival of last year’s FESTTAGE »Tannhäuser« production, and a new staging and a new staging of »Parsifal«, a work which has a particular connection with Boulez’ career as a conductor. In addition, excellent artists from all over the world will perform including Schubert, Berlioz and others.
