From March 29th until May 10th, an exhibition of artwork by Sjoerd Buisman is opening at the Kunsthaus in Potsdamm. The Dutch artist uses nature as a theme to his work, and has always been particularly fascinated by the growth and lives of trees and plants. Working since 1970s, he has experimented with several different forms of art to connect with his central focus on nature.

Yesterday at the Kunsthaus, the inauguration of the Dutch artist Sjoerd Buisman took place. The artist attended the inauguration ceremony as well as a meeting with Loek ten Hagen, representative of the Dutch embassy for culture and communication. Cherry Duyns, writer and filmmaker from the Netherlands, was also present at the inauguration.

Buisman studied at the Academy of Art in Rotterdam, where he is also now a professor, and has also lectured in several other academies and schools of art in The Netherlands.

He has always been interested in nature, and this is evident in all his work. From a young age, his works involved the use of potatoes, trees and various plants as artistic medium. Since the very start of his career, he studied the evolution and development of botanical gardens; taking pictures and painting paintings as testimonials and records of them..

The exhibition "Natur" in Potsdam presents a comprehensive selection of his most recent works. Some aspects of his work, such as the use of ‘dynamic spirals’ and geometric forms are a constant theme in his work, and can be seen in all his work, from as early as the 1970s.
