News from Berlin - In recent times, many people have been left worrying about their privacy and the protection of their personal data. This happened in light of recent scandals, in which it was revealed that several businesses and government agencies worldwide have collected incredible amounts of data from people. One of the most popular ways nowadays for sending messages to each other is the use of instant messaging services such as, for example, Whatsapp.

Of course, people have also worried about the safety of data concerning these messaging services. There have been concerns that people’s private messages can easily be tapped in to, therefore intruding on one’s privacy. In light of these concerns, German postal company Deutsche Post has announced the launch of a new, much more secure instant messaging platform, SimsMe.

With the new service smartphone owners will have the opportunity to send messages, contacts, videos and pictures to other people in a secure way. The messages that are sent are instantly encrypted, and the sender will have the option to have outgoing messages deleted instantly after being seen by the receiver. Thus, there is a much smaller change that data will actually be stolen. Also, even if someone manages to intercept any of the messages, these will always be encrypted. This of course reduce the risk of sensitive data being stolen or read by others, since it is incredibly difficult to decrypt these messages without having any of the keys.

The investments made by Deutsche Post show how the German technology industry stays on the front row of the latest developments in the business.
