Prince Charles and his wife Camilla visited Germany from May 7 to May 10. The purpose of the visit is to express “the diversity and the continuing importance of British-German relations.”

While in Germany, Charles and Camilla attended a number of cultural engagements and met with local politicians. The royal couple met German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Berlin Mayor Michael Mueller. Additionally, Prince Charles laid a wreath at the Berlin Airlift Memorial, remembering the support from the Allied forces during the Cold War.

The couple walked through the most famous cultural sites in Germany. For example, both visited Brandenburg Gate with Mayor Michael Mueller. At the end of the visit, Prince Charles said, “Today, we are so much more than simply neighbors,” expressing his belief that through their cultural exchanges Germany and the United Kingdom have become friends.
