News from Berlin – The Japanese Cultural center in Berlin is organizing an afternoon of events on June 21. It is an initiative which aims at introducing Japanese culture to people who are unfamiliar with it, but it is also the perfect place to be for everyone who already loves Japanese Culture.

For the fans of Japanese art there will be an exhibition of Bonseki, which is an ancient form of art where the Japanese create miniature landscapes on small black tablets with white sand and pebbles. There will also be an exhibition of Ikebana (flower arrangement) and Shûji (calligraphy), as well as demonstrations of Origami (paper folding) and Furoshiki (cloth wrapping). For those who are interested in experiencing a Japanese massage, there will be a session of shiatsu from 2.30 to 6 p.m. Furthermore, there will also be a workshop for those who want to learn how to draw manga, which is the Japanese cartoon style. Political and cultural discussions will also take place during the afternoon and they will be followed by a Japanese drum concert.

For those who enjoy Japanese food, there will be pavilions with food and drinks during the whole day – from 2 p.m. until 9.30 p.m.
