On July 6th the Hungarian Institute, known as the Balaasi Institut, will invite Berlin artists to collaborate with their Hungarian counterparts. Every month between May and December 2015 the institute will be holding a series of performances that artists and students of art and dance have the chance to attend. The project does not only foster cultural exchange between artists from Berlin and Hungary but it also encourages exchange between the diverse artistic genres. One evening a month three different performances will be given, each of which deal with the themes decided by the The Berlin Dream Project. This month’s objective is to experiment with forms of expression that transform the Balaasi Institut building into an active space. This theme explores the process of self-realization both on a personal and an artistic level. Artists will explore the theme through various artistic genres and will expose issues such as repetition, work and discipline analysing their interdependence with creativity and productivity.

The first of this month’s performances will be given by Tabea Xenia Magyar who will give a lecture performance based on a practice she began in 2014 to draw a picture and write a poem every day. She will take works from her portfolio and carefully interpret them with the help of the audience. Her performance will deal with issues such as productivity and activity on an everyday basis including discipline and work.

The second of the performances is entitled: Things to be done: Himmel und Erde and will be given by Virág Arany and Johanna Ackva. This collaborative work between German and Hungarian artists explores the themes of work, monotony, creativity and potato. In particular the performance deals with the tension between self-development and earning a living in Berlin.

The third performance will be given by Fabrício Belzoff. His live performance will compare two parallel worlds that seem similar at first glance but are in fact intentionally different. His performance will explore notions of identity, self-discovery and repetition.

The event will be held at the Balaasi Insitut at 20:00
