Concert of the Romanian Cultural Institute from Berlin

The Romanian Cultural Institute continues its concert series for classical music in the Villa Walther. The next event will take place on Thursday (January 29th). The artists contributing will be Andrei Ioniţă on cello and Naoko Sonoda on the piano. The artists will play Zoltán Kodály’s “Sonata for Violoncello”, op.8 and Antonin Dvořák’s “Concerto for Cello”, op.104.

Andrei Ioniţă is currently studying at the University of Arts in Berlin with Prof. Jens Peter Maintz. He has won numerous awards: first prize at the International Competition “Aram Khatchaturian” in Armenia, also first prize at “David Popper” competition in Hungary, at “JJ Dotzauer” in Dresden and “Vatelot Rampal” in Paris. He attended master classes from world-renowned musicians such as Steven Isserlis, Gary Hoffman, Bruno Cocset and David Cohen. He also appeared as a soloist at the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Berlin State Opera in 2014.

Naoko Sonoda studied at the University of Arts in Berlin (UdK) with Prof. Rainer Becker. After her studies at UdK, she joined the Academy of Music Hanns-Eisler Berlin as a teachers’ assistant, an activity that she continues doing today. She is the winner of multiple international competitions from cities such Argento and Trieste in Italy, and Lodz in Poland. She performs as a soloist and chamber musician in many European and Asian countries.

The concert will take place in the home of the Romanian Cultural Institute at Koenigsallee 20 A, 14193 Berlin, on Thursday (January 29th) at 7 pm. Admission is free.
