Cecilia Pinelli - Jazz is one of the most appreciated genres of music of all time and is also one of the most difficult to define. Originating in African American communities during the late 19th and early 20th century, Jazz makes use of improvisation and African musical elements such as blue notes and rang-time.

When jazz spread across the globe, it drew on different national, regional, and local musical cultures, giving rise to many distinctive styles. The main goal of the “Jazzahead!” is for lovers to get in touch with and to appreciate these different nuances of jazz, during the most important international jazz trade show. The showcase, which features top-class German jazz, European Jazz and beyond, will take place next weekend in Bremen. More than 700 exhibiting companies from 40 countries are expected to perform in over 100 concerts and showcases that will be held.

All bands have previously submitted an application and were then selected by a jury of experts: high quality and diverse jazz are thus assured! An equal importance is given to both well-known names and young bands` projects and newcomers who still have to establish themselves on the music market. But “Jazzahead!” is not just a must-go event for the international jazz industry; it is rather a cultural festival open to any music lover and to a general public. While the jazz scene meets, exchanges ideas and business, the public is right there amidst the action.

From 2011, “Jazzahead!” has annually given the opportunity to present its arts, cultural and music scene. After Spain, Turkey, Israel and Denmark, this year partner country is France. France will thus be the central focus of the partner country program, which lasts two weeks and will span a variety of cultural disciplines such as symposiums, literature readings, film screenings, exhibitions and lots more.

The tickets  (that can be bought online) will give access to all the musical and cultural events that are organized in cooperation with numerous arts and culture institutions in Bremen.
