One of the most important world trade fairs which has a focus on industrial equipment, will take place in Hannover between April 25th and 29th 2016. It has been recently announced that the USA will be an official Partner country. American President Barack Obama was invited by Chancellor Angela Merkel to give an opening speech at the event. The main purpose of Hannover Messe is to enhance relations between the USA and Germany. Taking into consideration the fact that both countries are leading economic powers this could be a beneficial opportunity for further cooperation.

The Hannover Messe was started in 1947 in a factory building in Laatzen, which is located in the south of Hannover, by an agreement with the British military government in order to enhance the economic development of Germany during the post war period. The first fair was colloquially known as Fischbrötchen Fair due to the exemptions in food distribution. It proved to be extremely successful event, hence repeated in the following years. It even replaced Leipzig as the most recognizable fair city in Germany.

The USA as a Partner country will present itself as a producer of high-quality goods and as an attractive target for investments in Hannover. The USA is open to fostering cooperation with Germany on fields, such as: education, technology and infrastructure. Additionally, energy efficiency, production opportunities and smart technologies, these areas will be most crucial areas in which the USA will present at Hannover Messe. German, as well as, American investors have great hopes that economic relations between two nations will improve and hence facilitate further business between the countries.
