Cecilia Pinelli - The Goethe Institute and "BOZAR Cinema", are organizing the third annual series of cinematographic events in Brussels. A selection of films, taken from the most famous German festivals, have been selecting for one-off screenings. The goal is to give the most appreciated German films more publicity on the European cultural scene. The tour will start on the 23rd of April and will last until the end of September; during this period a selection of films will be shown at the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels and at the headquarters of the Goethe Institute.

The selection of films being offered to the Belgian public is varied: the selection has is in fact been made by choosing the most curious, controversial and original works presented at the German festivals. The Belgian screenings are thus an opportunity to discover lesser-known and unmissable previews. One example of an exciting and controversial film is the politically engaging “DOK Leipzig”, another the universally known Berlinale. Some of the films were also recruited from “Max Ophüls”, a festival focused on the production of young German directors. Eventually a selection was also made from works presented at the International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen. The Goethe Institute has aimed to gather a real and complete selection of the German cinematographic universe: an innovative and international concept.

For the 2015 edition, two films have been selected from the Berlinale, both of which reflect, in their subjects and form, the specificity of this year’s film movements. They are two off-beat films, predicted to be very popular amongst Belgian audiences.

“Asta Upset” by Max Linz, is set in a modern day ‘Berlin Republic’. It’s about artistic production, the creative industries and above all film and cinema – a political manifesto in feature film format. Antoine Barraud will attend and take part in a debate with the public after the showing of his film “Le dos Rouge”  at the opening of the Festival.
