Radu Chifan - After German President, Joachim Gauck, honored two Romanian officials in March with a special ceremony, good relations between Germany and Romania continue to flourish this April.

In northwestern Romania, two unfolding project initiatives are underway to establish a sustainable and ecological economy. Both of these initiatives will strengthen relations between Germany and Romania. The Chief of Press Service and Public Relation from the German Embassy, Andrea Stohr, along with the Chief of the Economic Service, Sebastian Gromig, have visited the two onsite projects.

In Beltiug, the hill south of Satu-Mare lies the winery of Bachbil. Here, the old Satu Mare Swabs tradition of wine making for graps growing and vine making has come back to life. The owners of the winery are active in the Romano-German economic Club of Satu Mare. The Club was built in 2005 and acts as an NGO, dedicated to create a bridge for German companies in the area. The organization has 34 member companies from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Their work operations are conducted under highly sustainable and ecological standards, aiming to promote the area for tourism.

In Viseul de Sus, the bordering county of Maramures, local officials managed to save a unique forest train rail and now use it for tourist purposes. This exceptional attraction, which combines the impressive history of technique and the spectacular nature of the area, has the perfect assets for a tourist destination in the Valley of Vaserul.

The forest industry in the Zipserii area cannot be separated from the German minorities living there. Germans, Austrians, Swiss and Romanians are currently working shoulder to shoulder to finalize the building of the train rail. The upcoming completion of the project will lead to the development of the entire area of the Wasser Valley.
