Famous South African Pianist to Perform in Berlin

Berlin will be welcoming Abdullah Ibrahim at the Berliner Philharmonie where he will be performing solo on the 19th of November. His music has inspired a whole generation and his most celebrated song, Manneberg, has been an anthem against the Apartheid.

With 85 years Ibrahim continues to travel around the world and plays at big concert halls, festivals and in clubs as a solo artist. He also performs with other celebrated artists, such as Max Roach, Carlos Ward and Randy Weston.

Abdullah Ibrahim has been an avid fighter against the Apartheid in South Africa. His past songs were mainly traditional Khoisan music and Christian songs. Along the while, his music got influenced by American Jazz, Township Jive and Cape Malay-music.

Undoubtedly, the combination of the secular and the religious sphere so as modern and tradition has made the nature of his music unique.

His last solo album “Dream Time” will be released 2019. If you want to experience the uniqueness of Abdullah Ibrahim´s style of music, November 19th will be a special occasion as he will be at the Berliner Philharmonie for his big tour.
