On February 12th, the Spanish Embassy in Berlin will celebrate the start of the photography exhibition “España, un país de cine”, organized by the Embassy together with Spain Film Commission and with the support of Sub Dirección General de Industrias Culturales y Mecenazgo and Instituto de la Cinematografía y las Artes Audiovisuales, both dependent on the Spanish Culture Ministry. This exhibition is held within the framework of the Berlinale Film Festival that is held annually in Berlin.

The main objective of this exhibition is to promote Spain as a film shooting destination. The photographs show various locations in Spain relevant to cinematographers and tourists. The Vice-chairman of the Spanish Film Commission Víctor Lamadrid stated: “we have gathered locations throughout Spain where filming has taken place, to show the potential we have as a cinema destination. <…> We tried that the exhibition shows all the territories and regions of Spain and also all the different types of landscapes.”

The exhibition includes photographs from the shooting locations of contemporary productions such as Game of Thrones, but also classic works as Doctor Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia, and the great Western classics – Star Wars and Indiana Jones. The aim of the exhibition is to show that Spain is an excellent location for filming: in addition to its wealth of extremely diverse, easily accessible locations in a secure environment, it also offers tax incentives for productions from the cinema, TV and advertising.

“España, un país de cine” will be open for the public from 13th February 2019 till 15th of March at the Spanish embassy in Berlin.
