The Ambassador

Amb. Tomáš Kafka

Amb. Tomáš Kafka was born in Prague in May 20, 1965. He graduated in 1988 from Charles University in Prague in History and Russian studies.

Before being appointed Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Federal Republic of Germany in 2020, Tomáš Kafka was Junior Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Issues. From 2008 to 2013 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ireland.

The building of the Czech Embassy in Berlin was built in 1978 as the Czechoslovak Embassy in East Germany and was one of the few new embassies built in East Berlin. It was built as part of an architectural project, by the architects Vladimir and Vera Machonin.
