Izabella Sipos - The director of the British Museum, Neil MacGregor, confirmed on April 8th, 2015 that he is to work on the major new project for the reconstruction of Berlin’s Palace from the end of this year.

In joining the renovation project, Neil MacGregor has declared the end of his position as director of the British Museum. On joining the Berlin project, he will work as advisor to the Humboldtforum, charged with reconstructing Berlin's City Palace.

The head of Museum organized an exhibition about German History in London last year, which was one of the most popular events the museum has hosted. The exhibition was visited by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel as part of her official visit, and was the focus of an important BBC radio cultural series. The reconstruction project has been called the Humboldtforum’s “most ambitious cultural project yet”.

MacGregor declared that: “The Humboldt- Forum, drawing on the outstanding resources of the Berlin collections, can become a place where different narratives of world cultures can be explored and debated.
