On the occasion of the tercentenary of Constantin Brâncoveanu, the Romanian Institute for Culture from Berlin together with the Embassy of Romania to Germany has organized an exhibition on Thursday, entitled “Brâncoveanu 300 – Tradiția continuă” (Brâncoveanu 300 – The Tradition Continues).

Who is Constantin Brâncoveanu?

Constantin Brâncoveanu (1654–1714) was a Romanian aristocrat, a descendant of the Craiovești boyar family and Prince of Wallachia between 1688 and 1714. In his religious and laic constructions, Brâncoveanu harmoniously combined in architecture the mural and sculptural painting, the local tradition, the Neo-Byzantine style and the innovative ideas of the Italian Renaissance, giving rise to Brâncovenesc (Brâncoveanian) style. The Hurezi monastery is the most accomplished and the best preserved example of Brâncovenesc style architecture. It is where Brâncoveanu intended to have his tomb. The monastery is inscribed by UNESCO on its list of World Heritage Sites.

The exhibition is accomplished with the support of the Union of Architects from Romania and it will take place on Thursday, November 27 at 6.00 pm. at the Embassy of Romania, Dorotheenstrasse 62–66, 10117 Berlin.
