On the 22nd of December, the Institutes Cervantes of Berlin, which promotes the knowledge of the Spanish culture and language, will join the event of the European Short Film Day, showing 5 Spanish short movies.

An initiative that, started in France three years ago, has already become a tradition throughout the European countries: December 21st, known as the shortest day of the year, is also the European Short Film Day. On this day, in fact, short movies are shown in cinemas as well as in other meeting points: Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland are the countries that will join the Short Circuit project this year, whose aim as European Network of non-commercial short film agencies, is to draw attention to short films.

A format that has aroused interest both in the audience, proven by the success of the previous years, and in the directors, who can take advantage of this occasion to make experiments, trying to find new ways and possibilities of communication.

The day after, on the 22nd of December, the Institute Cervantes of Berlin will take part to this event, showing 5 short Spanish movies, since this kind of format has found among the Spanish film production one of its best expressions in the originality and the quality of the stories.

The movies of the night will include: Lala (Esteban Crespo, 2009, 20min.), a modern fairy tale, about a young daughter, her family and her village; On the line (Jon Garaño, 2008, 12min.), set in Southern California, tells the story of a man who leaves wife and children in order to fulfill his duties; Chicas Day (Susan Béjar, 2013, 13min.), the Girls' Day, where anything can happen; La boda (Marina Seresesky, 2012, 12min.), the adventurous day of a Cuban immigrant woman in Madrid whose daughter is about to marry; Éramos pocos (Borija Cobeaga, 2005, 16min.), a father, his son, and the old mother in law who try together to bring a new order into the housekeeping.
