If you have a passion for stories and hidden history then this is the place for you. The underground world of Berlin was discovered by the Berlin Underworld Association. Founded in 1997 the organisation tries to unveil the secrets that lie beneath the surface of the city. Every person with a pinch of curiosity and a bag of will can explore the underground buildings. The untold stories await you!

The Underground of Berlin is a vast-spreading haunted city. There you can find caverns, air raid shelters, disused railway tunnels, derelict brewery vaults and other interesting places. One can walk for days through the never-ending tunnels and imagine what people felt when they had to use these rooms and halls.

The construction of the underground was completed at the end of the nineteenth and the first part of the twentieth century. However, there were many other sites simultaneously built and engineers were often digging very deep. So tourists will find many levels of underground wonders, wherein the subway system is only a part of Berlin’s subterranean architecture.

The Association organizes guided tours which are focused on sparking an interest in Berlin history. In addition, they attempt to provide vast insight into the rapid urban development of the 19th century in Germany, the military history and of course the division of Berlin.

The latest project about the underground world is a multimedia exhibition, ‘Myth of Germania – Vision and Crime’. It not only discusses the topic of Hitler’s rule, but goes further than that to engage in a more significant theme about human rights.

The organized tours run from several starting points in the city.
