News from Berlin - For the tenth year in a row, Berlin is hosting Pictoplasma, a multidisciplinary series of events that aims to promote the visual vanguard and graphic arts in the digital age. On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, Pictoplasma celebrated with a festival, which was officially opened on April 30th.

It includes the Pictoplasma Portrait Gallery at Kaufhaus Jandorf, which will run until May 11th and showcases paintings, busts, sculptures and animated video portraits by the one hundred artists who have most influenced the festival over the past decade. In addition to this, there are also fifteen exhibitions in fifteen different galleries, art venues and showrooms throughout the districts of Berlin Mitte, Kreuzberg and Neukölln.

Moreover, from May 1st til May 3rd the historic film theater in Rosa Luxemburgstrasse represented the meeting point of numerous art gatherings: conferences with international speakers, more than one hundred animation screenings (with a selection of short films, motion graphics and experimental animations), artist talks, lectures, presentations, hands-on jam sessions and workshops. The festival culminated in the Pictoplasma birthday party on Saturday night at Urban Spree: there was a live concert of Big Butter (US) and the premiere of Radio Minus Senior Sound System.
