LBB BIPA, which stands for ‘Bercerita Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asig’ meaning a ‘Indonesian story-telling for foreigners’, is an annual Indonesian language ‘Bahasa’ speech contest held by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture cooperating with the Republic of Indonesia Embassies in twenty-one countries, including Germany.

This year, in Berlin, the competition took place at the Indonesian Cultural House located at Theodor-Franke-Strasse 11.

Following last year’s topic, which was ‘Unity in Diversity’, this year’s topic was chosen to be ‘Tolerance’. All participants prepared their own creative speech contents relevant to the topic as well as understanding on Indonesian folklore, delivered with fluent speaking skills during the contest. The winners of LBB BIPA will be flown to Indonesia in August for a tour as well as given the chance to participate in the final contest where they will be competing with other winners from the other twenty-one countries.
