Philippine Embassy in Berlin invite the public to an evening of reading and storytelling

As part of their new project, AklaTamBayan living library, the Philippine Embassy in Berlin is organizing on 16th of September a meeting with children’s literature writer Erin Etrada Kelly.The event is open to the large public and is designed to bring Philippine community in Berlin together, through storytelling.

Erin Etrada Kelly is a well known Filipino-American writer, who received the 2018 John Newbery Medal, for her third novel “Hello, Universe”, novel that will be adapted by Netflix into a feature film. She become a New York Times bestseller, having her books translated into several languages. She is tackling in her works themes like diversity, migration, bullying etc., being addressed mainly to children and young adults.

As mentioned already, the event is part of the embassy AklaTamBayan living library project, being the second of this kind after Roots and Routers: Perspective on migration and integration event, that will take place at the end of August. Throughout the evening the public is invited to listen Erin reading from her books and sharing her story as a writer and influencer. Having a double nationality, both American and Filipino, her perspective on diversity, migration present in her books acquire a new, fresh dimension that can inspire Filipino people that are struggling to integrate and build their home in Germany.
