The Ambassador

Amb. Deividas Matulionis

In 1991 Amb. Matulionis started working in the Lithuanian diplomacy. For two years he worked in the Department of Northern Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a senior and first secretary. In 1993-1994 he was the Chargé affairs, then counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Estonia. From 1994 Amb. Matulionis was counsellor of the Lithuanian Embassy in Oslo, and from 1995 to 1997 in Copenhagen. He then headed a number of Divisions: Northern Europe and Western Europe, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1998-2001 he was an advisor to the Government of the Republic of Lithuania on issues surrounding international affairs. In 2001 he took the office of the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Denmark and the Republic of Iceland. After returning home in 2006, he was appointed as director of the Department of Economic Security Policy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2007-2009, he was the secretary of state in the ministry. From 2009 to 2012 he headed the Office of the Government of Lithuania and in 2012 he became ambassador of Lithuania in Germany. In 1986 he graduated from the Department of Industry Economics of Vilnius University and then he worked at the university as an assistant in the Department of Economic Theory.
