Reading has a significant number of benefits. It sparks the imagination, promotes language development and reading skills. It is proven that children who often have stories read to them learn faster. Deutsche Bahn has been a long-time supporter of the Reading Foundation (Stiftung Lesen) in Germany. The organization aims to promote a love of reading among children and adults.

Stiftung Lesen acts as a stakeholder for reading promotion on a national and international level. The foundation provides professional advice for staff at children’s daycare centers and schools, organizes conferences and researches interdisciplinary aspects. The Stiftung Lesen’s Institute for Reading and Media Research conducts scientific research on reading and media use, and carries out its own studies, sometimes in cooperation with the Deutsche Bahn Foundation.

The Einfachvorlesen.de platform is one of the most recent projects of Stiftung Lesen and the Deutsche Bahn. It gives parents the access to the age-appropriate books and stories for children. The website is uploaded with new content every week starting from spring 2018. The platform offer is free of charge.

More information about the project can be found at the official website: https://www.einfachvorlesen.de
