Minister Petříček managed to arrange President Trump´s meeting with Czech Prime Minister

Tomáš Petříček, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic traveled to the USA. His three day visit started on February 20. In Washington DC Petříček met with US Minister of Foreign Affairs Mike Pompeo, US National Security Advisor John Bolton, and Director of the US Agency for International Development Mark Green.

Amongst the discussed topics were the hundred-year long lasting Czech-American relationships, the transatlantic alliance, and the mutual cooperation in the fields of cybernetic and energetic security. Petříček encouraged Czech entrepreneurs and US investment in Czech Republic. As well he mentioned the possibility of the President Trump´s encounter with Czech Prime Minister, which was arranged later on. Apart from that he performed two speeches, the first in think tank CSIS (Center for Strategic and International Studies) and the other in NED (National Endowment for Democracy). At the end of the visit he met with the Czech community to Washington DC.

Petříček´s visit to the USA was particularly successful. During his stay he tried to intensify the Czech-American ties and to further string both countries on economic and business level. Other than that, the meeting of President Trump and Czech Prime Minister was scheduled for March 7th.  Discussed will be intercontinental ties between American and Czech economical sector, and the US attitude towards NATO and EU. Both meetings are important tools concerning the promotion of Czech foreign interests and to further mutual understanding of differences and similarities between the two cultures.
