Brunei Royalty Graces Omani Cultural Night

The Embassy of Oman stages a special night to celebrate Omani music, diplomatic relations, literature and culture

Omani music filled the Indera Samudra Grand Hall of the Empire Hotel and Country Club on Thursday evening as the guests celebrated Omani Cultural Night.

HER Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah graced the Omani Cultural Night at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall of The Empire Hotel & Country Club last night in Brunei. Her Royal Highness was greeted by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, as well as Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Sheikh Ahmed bin  Hashel bin Rashed bin Hashel Al-Maskari.

Omani Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed Hashil Al Maskari said his country’s participation aims to strengthen people-to-people ties, public and cultural diplomacy. “We are further proud of the major milestones achieved over the past few years in the cordial friendship and excellent bilateral relations between our two brotherly sultanates in the field of culture,” he said.

Several short documentary films were screened during the event, including one called “Brunei as viewed by an Omani lens”. At the Brunei Book Fair, visitors can find a wide range of Omani publications that highlights cultural, historic and literary heritage of the country. The fair will also display a number of Omani cultural performances, as well as the making of Omani Halwa, henna painting and Arabic calligraphy.
